This is indeed the Christ, Savior of the world. (John 4:42)

If you've been a Christian for any length of time you will be prone to tune out if I start giving the history of what a Savior is and what the word Savior means. And if I belabour the fact the angels knew a Savior had been born (Luke 2: 10-11), "For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord," you will say yeah, yeah, I hear that every Christmas. So, I'm going to do something different today.

Easter is approaching and the title Savior will be spoken in most every Bible teaching church. In fact, "Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ" was one of Peter's favourite titles for God. He used this title five times in 2 Peter alone.

Peter knew first-hand how he had been rescued from the tempest of a raging sea as he tried to walk on water (Matt. 14:22-33), or how he denied his Lord when Jesus was arrested and yet was forgiven. (Luke 22:54-62) Peter fully understood how he was huddled in fear hiding in a room from the Jews that killed Jesus one minute (John 20:19), and given the transformational power of the Holy Spirit to preach boldly the next. (Acts 2:14-39). Oh yes, Peter knew what it meant to say and mean, "My God and my Savior Jesus Christ." Now I want to know what this means to you.

As an Easter blessing to one another, please take one moment (it is so easy—go to the comments below) and write one sentence of what you have been saved from. Let's inspire one another with God's amazing saving grace. Each one of us have a story that matters to God and speaks to the world of His love.

As we collectively share, the power of our Savior will become real, heart-rending, relevant.

I will start:

The saving power of Jesus Christ saved me from the clutches of suicide as a teenager.
