Have you ever been in need? Really in need? I personally do not know what it would be like to not have food for my family, or a roof over my head, or not have the clothes I need to to stay warm. My physical needs have always been met. Matthew 6:31 says, "Do not worry, saying 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' ...For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and HIs righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."
Does this Scripture only pertain to not worrying about our physical needs or does it encompass a whole lot more?
Need has knocked on my door in other forms ... sickness, sorrow, suffering. I am sure it has come knocking on your door too. We all can find things to worry about, especially in our Covid 19 world of the unknown, but one thing does not change. Our God is still Yahweh Yireh meaning The-LORD-will-provide. What is your need today? Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and what? All these things-(meaning all the strength you need, or I need) will be added, or given to us.
- Name of God: Yahweh-Yireh—The-LORD-Will-Provide
- Scripture: Gen. 22:14; Ps. 23:1; Gen. 48:15
- Prayer: My LORD, my Provider thank you that in these uncertain times I know you are the God who provides. I do not have to fret, or stockpile, or selfishly hoard unto myself. Yahweh-Yireh help me to be like you - to give, to shine, and be extravagant, so the world sees the difference. Amen
Song: Listen to this old hymn written by John Newton (who wrote Amazing Grace.) Really listen to the words sung beautifully by Matthew Smith, The Lord Will Provide.
